Who We Are

The Radical Ecological Democracy platform and web journal are the initiatives of the India based Kalpavriksh Environmental Action Group, which has been in the forefront of the struggle for environmental sanity and sustainability in India for the last four decades. The RED website welcomes contributions from grassroots activists, academics, thinkers, organizers, journalists and others imagining, conceptualizing and practicing “transformative alternatives”. Pallav Das is one of the founding members of Kalpavriksh, now based in Washington D.C. edits the journal and also coordinates the initiatives of the platform.

Ashish Kothari is a founding member of Kalpavriksh, an Indian environmental NGO. He helps coordinate Vikalp Sangam, Global
Tapestry of Alternatives
. He is the co-author and co-editor of multiple books and articles, including Churning the Earth, Alternative Futures, and Pluriverse: A Post-Development Dictionary.

Shrikanth Aithala

Shrikanth is a seasoned entrepreneur having founded and participated in many startups. He has knowledge of diverse sectors from solar energy and automobiles to ecommerce and cloud computing. He helps in keeping this website oiled and functioning.

Pooja Kishinani

Pooja is a writer, long distance runner, and network coordinator based in Bengaluru, India. She edits and manages the web journal.
