The RED website is a platform for the exchange of ideas, information, and stories about movements towards a pluriverse of just, equitable, and sustainable futures. We want to learn about what you and your community, collective or organisation are doing to accelerate social, political, economic, cultural transformations; towards crafting new narratives or revitalizing old (and still relevant) ones. What are your breakthrough insights and practices? What are your challenges and how are you approaching them?
We want the RED website to be a credible and reliable place for meaningful interaction. We are especially looking for:
- Stories of grassroots initiatives, activist movements, legislation, economic and political activities exploring alternatives to the current extractivist paradigms, especially from the global majority world.
- Reflections on forums, conferences, workshops, festivals, events, gatherings that focus on alternatives and the outcomes/processes emerging from these gatherings.
- Stories of worldviews, cosmologies, indigenous wisdom that gesture towards other ways of being and living.
- Multimedia stories that weave in photographs, poetry, graphics and other creative forms of expression.
Guidelines for Submissions:
- There is no deadline. You can share pitches, articles, and stories throughout the year.
- Our style at REDWeb is a blend of journalistic and accessible academic articles aimed at activists, policy analysts, students, media, academics, and curious readers. Please avoid using academic and technical jargon that readers may not understand. Use simpler terms wherever possible to help the reader understand better.
- While writing or submitting a story, it’s important to highlight how the ideas/examples/initiatives in your narrative present alternatives to the dominant system and/or demonstrate how communities are practicing and imagining worlds rooted in justice, liberation, and radical democracy. It may be helpful to the RED framework to reflect how your story connects with one or more of the principles.
- Please ensure that headlines, titles, and subtitles in the article must be concise and encapsulate what the article is about.
- Please ensure that your article does not contain any incorrect information. When possible, provide sources and references for all facts and data you cite.
- We welcome articles written in different languages; however, we request you to submit your article along with an English translation.
- We recommend writers to keep their pieces between 1500-2000 words. Please include pictures, videos, graphics in the article and include captions and image credits where necessary.
- Please share a short bio of yourself (no more than 50 words) at the end of your article, and mention your Linkedin, BlueSky and Instagram handles in it (if you would like to be tagged when we share your article).
- Last but not the least, the editorial collective’s decision is final. The RED editorial collective will review your draft and work closely with you to edit and publish your article. However, if the collective may decide to not publish your article if it is not aligned with the values and principles of the website (refer to the RED framework).
